Content

Standing high on the north of Gohyeonman(bay), Mt. Aengsan borders Hacheong-myeon and Yeoncho-myeon. The mountain(507.4m) is called Aengsan because its shape looks like an oriole soaring up in the sky.

The mountain is 507.4m high above sea level. On the mountainside, the site of Buksa (temple) built in Koryo period (17th year of King Hyeonjong’s reign, 1206 A.D.) remains. The surface area of the temple is approximately 198㎡ and a millstone, roof tile, and foundation stone reflect the size of the temple. In 1980, Gwangcheongsa (temple) was built on the back of Bucheogol. At the peak, whetstones are being discovered and most of the villagers use whetstones from the mountain.
