Oknyeobong is located at the back of Okrim-ri, Ilwoon-myeon and Ajudong of Jangseungpo. The name of the mountain originated from the story of Okneyo, the daughter of the Great Jade Emperor. She reincarnated as a human being due to her sin and came down to Oknyeobong. One day, her worldly father was driven by lust for Oknyeo. She said that she would do whatever he asks for only if he comes up to the mountain from Okrim by making a lowing-cry. He did what she said and a crack of thunder hit him to death and Okneyo soared up to the sky. In the middle point of Oknyeobong and Guksabong, there is Mundong fall which is known as a mysterious spot of Geoje. In Eastern Neungseon, there is Beacon Fire Station, and at the peak of the mountain, you can see signal corps. The mountain faces the Straits of Korea towards the Southeast and DMSE towards the Northeast. It also embraces Guksabong and Okpo bay where Admiral Yi Sun-sin won the first victory. It is 554.7m high above sea level.
