Located in the southeastern part of Geoje island, this mountain touches Gucheon, Buchun, and Hakdong in Dongbu-myeon. It is 565m high above sea level and it is considered as one of the great mountain creating ‘Geoje Bongsan’. Autumn leaves create magnificent scenery. Inhabited by many rare animals and plants including the fairy pitta, a very rare bird species, the mountain is considered mysterious. The mountain got its name from a tale that the herb of eternal youth and picturesque scenery made a hermit eternally young. The strange rocks seen from Hakdong Pebble Beach look wonderful and the view of archipelago seen from the summit is magnificent.
At the summit, you can see an altar used for past ceremonies to bring much-needed rain and a cenotaph of a rear admiral of Japanese navy during the Russo-Japanese War. Right underneath the peak of the mountain, there is a lawn of about 1,650m2 which was used for training royal army in the time of Japanese invasion. The place is remarkable as there is a mineral spring that can quench the thirst of hundreds of people. It is recommended to stroll following the trail from the recreational forest but people also enjoy walking from the back of Hyeyangsa located in Buchun of Dongbu.
