Located in North Geoje at the back of Myeong-dong, Yeoncho-myeon, the mountain covers the area of Daegeum-ri, Jangmok-myeon. Mt. Daegeumsan is 437.5m high above sea level and the name of the mountain originated from the fact that iron was produced here during Silla period. As the shape of the mountain is smooth and in spring, the mountain is ablaze with azaleas and thus, the mountain is called Mt. Daeguemsan meaning beautiful silk. The middle peak of the mountain is called Junggeumsan and there is a mountain fortress which was built in the period of late Joseon Dynasty. The fortress is known to be built by the villagers of Daegeum, Sibang, Yulchoen, and food were stored and distributed to military camps on the southern coast. There is a platform for the prayer for rain and a mineral spring. Especially, many people come to the mineral water spring on the July 7th and 15th of each month by lunar calendar to drink and take a bath. At the summit, you can see Daemado far away and Busan, Masan, and Jinhae underneath.
