Mt. Hwawang is 757m above sea level and forms the boundary betweenChangnyeong-eup and Goam-myeon. Since the past, this mountain has beenvolcanically active, and hence was called Bulmoe or Large Bulmoe. Also, thereed field and azalea colony is famous nationwide, becoming the pronoun ofMt. Hwawang.
The vast plain with the size of 240,000㎡ is a prairie of reed field. Thelarge-scale basin cut between mountain peaks are entirely covered under thewhite cotton blanket of reed flowers, being the motive of the annual ReedFestival in October. Furthermore, Mt. Hwawang is very famous for its azaleaand royal in Spring, reed prairie in Summer, golden reed waves in Autumn, andwhite snow in Winter.
