Hadong-gun

Hadong-gun is located at the southern end of Korea and the western end of Gyeongnam. It is adjacent to 2 provinces and 8 cities or counties: Sancheong-gun, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do and Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do on the north, Gwangyang-si and Gurye-gun, Jellanam-do on the west, Jinju-si and Sacheon-si on the east and Namhae-gun to the south. Mt.Jirisan, Seomjingang River and the south sea make the northern, western and southern border of Hadong-gun respectively.

In Hadong, Mt. Jirisan stands majestically and blue Seomjingang River winds through the field. Along with its beauty, Hadong is also the historical town of Noryanjin, located at Hallyeo Maritime National Park, which was the last victory place of Admiral Lee Sunshin. Hadong has abundant natural resources: Ssanggyesa Temple of the Silla Dynasty, located on the slope of Hwagye-myeon, Bulil Falls between Cheonghakbong Peak and Baekhakbong Peak in Mt. Jirisan, and Chilbulsa Temple on the slope of Banyabong, Jirisan. Hadong has heavenly gifted nature of white sand, old pine trees and Hadong Pogu Palsipni (80-ri) Scenic view.

As the farming population reduces, grows the number of the orchards planting pears, persimons and chestnuts. Hadong is the biggest chestnut production place in Korea. 'Wild Green Tea' of Hwagye-myeon has a nationwide fame as the local specialties of Hadong. With the introduction of the local administrative system, Namhae county people are taking part in making clean, blue sea and pleasant homes.
