Yangsan-si

Yangsan-si

Changwon-si was originated on April 1, 1974, when the government announced Changwon-myeon, Sangnam-myeon and Ungnam-myeon of Masan as 'Industrial Base Development District to construct the Mechanic and Industrial complex'.

Yangsan is situated on the north of Busan and in the opposite of Gimhae with Nakdonggang River on the border. As a major suburb of Busan, Yangsan has active relations with Busan in many ways. Yangsan is the mountainous area and shows low rate of arable acreage (12.7%) and farming population (9.5%). On the other hand, Yangsan records the best in the cattle and chicken breeding.

As Yangsan Industrial Complex is completed, it plays a big role to fill the shortage of the industrial land in Busan. Yangsan covers 11.6% employees of the whole mining and manufacturing industries in Gyeongnam and has the most manufacturing workers next to Changwon.

Major tourist attractions of Yangsan include Tondosa Temple, Naewon Valley in Gajisan Provincial Park, Hongryong Falls and Rainbow Falls. Tondosa Temple is the best tourist attraction as Bulbo Sachal, one of Korea's Sambo Sachals (temples of three treasures), which enshrines Buddha's Sarira.
