Geoje is the largest island in Gyeongnam and the second largest in Korea next to Jeju island. There are three National Industrial Complex: Okpo Vomplex housing Daewoo Shipbuilding, Jukdo Complex housing Samsung Shipbuilding and Jisepo Complex with Oil Preservation Base.
Thanks to the warm temperature in winter, Geoje grows subtropical plants such as pineapples and aloes. In particular Jangmok and Yeoncho-myeon has Bamboo Complex and southern coastal area cultivates citron trees.
The Geoje coast, with its Hakdong Pebble Beach and Gujora Beach, numbers 2.5 million visitors annually.
